CHICAGO — Chicago Symphony Orchestra Music Director Riccardo Muti will undergo surgery to repair the multiple facial and jaw fractures sustained when he fell during rehearsal on Thursday, February 3. He remains at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and will undergo surgery on Monday, February 7. Maestro Muti also continues to undergo tests to assess the underlying cause of the fall. Updates on Maestro Muti’s condition will follow the surgery.
The CSO’s performances on Saturday, February 5, at 8 p.m., and Tuesday, February 8, at 7:30 p.m., will be led by conductor/pianist Mitsuko Uchida and conductor Leonard Slatkin.
The CSO’s performances on Thursday, February 10, at 8 p.m.; Friday, February 11, at 1:30 p.m.; Saturday, February 12, at 8 p.m.; and Tuesday, February 15, at 7:30 p.m. will be led by Finnish conductor Sakari Oramo, who makes his CSO debut at these concerts.
